Farms in the Rostov region have begun sowing winter crops, about 66 thousand hectares have been sown, reported the region’s governor, Yuri Slyusar.
“Don farmers are preparing the soil for sowing winter crops. To date, more than 1.5 million hectares have been prepared, with a plan of 2.8 million hectares. The northern regions of the region have already begun sowing winter crops, about 66 thousand hectares have been sown,” the governor is quoted as saying Interfax.
Harvesting of late grain crops has also begun. They have already been harvested on an area of 22.5 thousand hectares, which is 16% of the plan, the gross harvest is 33 thousand tons. Oilseeds were harvested on an area of 254 thousand hectares, which is 21% of the plan, the gross harvest is 414 thousand tons. The main oilseed crop in the region - sunflower - is harvested on an area of 125 thousand hectares. Productivity is already higher than last year's indicators - 17.6 c/ha. Harvesting of sugar beets, potatoes, vegetables and grapes continues.
The governor emphasized that the implementation of measures to support farmers is also continuing, in particular, this is a grain subsidy. The regional limit for subsidizing grain produced and sold for the 2025-2026 harvest is more than 600 million rubles.
In 2026, the Rostov region increased the collection of early grains and legumes by 1.7 times, to 13.6 million tons. The gross harvest of winter wheat was 12.2 million tons. The yield was 42.6 c/ha.
