The Makhachkala sea trade port is preparing to open the first stage of a new grain terminal in 2026. After the launch of the facility, its capacity will increase by 30%, TASS reports citing the port’s press service.
“In 2025, about 300 thousand tons of grain were handled (an increase of 17% compared to 2024). <…> In 2026, with the launch of the first stage of the new grain terminal, capacity should increase by another 30%,” the agency’s interlocutor said.
Earlier it was reported that the construction of a new grain terminal - the largest in the Caspian Sea - is planned before the end of 2028 in Dagestan.
Makhachkala sea trade port is the only ice-free and deepest Russian port in the Caspian Sea.
