Starting from 2026, the Ministry of Agriculture will set plans for the regions for the area of cultivating fields with agrodrones and unmanned vehicles, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev said at a meeting on the results of crop production in 2025 and tasks for the upcoming spring field work, Interfax writes.
He called the development of this area a significant tool for increasing productivity.
“Crop farming has great potential for using unmanned technologies,” he said. “However, we need to work not only on new types of equipment, but also improve the algorithms for its operation, including through the introduction of artificial intelligence.”
“Here, of course, it is important that the Ministry of Industry and Trade promptly respond to the demands of our industry,” Patrushev added.
The Deputy Prime Minister also named other key areas for the development of crop production. First of all, it is the preservation and increase of soil fertility. Relevant measures will be included in a separate program, the development of which the government has entrusted to the Ministry of Agriculture at the end of 2025.
“The second direction is selection and seed production. It is necessary to increase the efficiency of research and, at the same time, strive to reduce its time,” he said.
