Stavropol Region Governor Vladimir Vladimirov proposed introducing a deferment of loan and interest payments for farmers who find themselves in a difficult situation due to low purchase prices for grain. He stated this during a direct line with residents of the region, reports TASS.
“As the secretary of the State Council Commission on Agriculture, I appealed to the leadership of our country to [apply] the measures that we used during the pandemic - deferment of loan payments and interest for those who are hostage to this situation today,” he said.
Vladimirov noted that he plans to further discuss the issue with Russian Minister of Agriculture Oksana Lut. Earlier, he also announced his intention to approach the Russian government with a proposal to carry out state grain interventions.
“We sent a joint appeal with the governor of the Rostov region, Yuri Borisovich Slyusar [on grain interventions]. We would really like the state to make a decision on grain intervention in the amount of at least 10 million tons. They offered a price of 15 rubles per kilogram, because we understand perfectly well that today the cost is at least 10 rubles. Depending on the yield, it can be higher,” Vladimirov noted during the direct line.
In 2026, almost 9.3 million tons of grain were harvested in the Stavropol region with an average yield of about 42 centners per hectare.
