From January 1 to December 31, 2026, Russia will have a quota for the export of raw rice outside the Eurasian Economic Union. A decree on this has been signed, according to the website of the Government of the Russian Federation.
The quota size will be 200 thousand tons per year. Within the quota, the export duty will be zero, outside of it - 50% of the customs value of the product.
“The decision was approved by the subcommittee on customs, tariff and non-tariff regulation, protective measures in foreign trade of the Government Commission for Economic Development and Integration. It will stimulate the further development of rice farming in Russia, as well as develop new foreign consumer markets,” the Cabinet of Ministers said in a statement.
From July 1, 2022 until December 31, 2025, Russia has a temporary ban on the export of raw rice. At present, there is no need to extend it, since production volumes fully meet the needs of the domestic market for these products.
