The government has decided to extend the ban on the export of diesel fuel for manufacturers until the end of October 2026, they write "Vedomosti" with reference to two sources familiar with the results of a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, held on September 14.
The ban is now in effect until September 30. The embargo will be extended to ensure fuel supplies to the domestic market, one of the interlocutors says.
A temporary ban on diesel fuel exports was introduced by the government at the end of September 2025. Initially, it was established for companies that are not diesel producers (i.e., for traders), as well as for refineries with a production volume of up to 1 million tons per year. At first it was set for three months (until December 31, 2025), then the government extended the restrictions three times - until February 28, until July 31, 2026 and until January 31, 2027.
At the beginning of July this year, the government extended the embargo to all fuel producers. The ban was set until July 31, 2026, then the Cabinet alternately extended it until September 1 and September 30. An exception is made for the export of diesel fuel within the framework of international agreements and for humanitarian supplies.
In parallel, Russia has a similar ban on gasoline exports. It is set until January 31, 2027.
