The condition of winter crops in the Lipetsk region does not cause concern, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Lipetsk region reported. The weather conditions of December 2025 and the first ten days of January 2026 did not significantly affect their overwintering.
The first ten days of January 2026 were characterized by unstable temperature conditions and various precipitation events. January frosts gave way to abnormally warm weather for winter. On average, 44 millimeters of precipitation fell in the region over the ten-day period – 123% of the January norm. At the end of the decade, the depth of snow cover ranged from 7 to 22 centimeters, with the norm being 13-17. By the end of the decade, the soil froze to 7-16 centimeters on chernozems and up to 26 centimeters on sandy loam cover. According to average long-term data, usually by this period the soil freezes to a depth of 29-35 centimeters.
The regional Ministry of Agriculture clarified that the conditions for winter and fruit crops were not favorable enough, but their condition at the moment does not cause concern. The minimum temperature at the depth of the tillering node was –1°C, which did not pose a danger to wintering crops.
“For the 2026 harvest, 340 thousand hectares of winter crops were sown in the region in the fall. Farmers are systematically monitoring their crops,” said Lipetsk Region Governor Igor Artamonov.
