Türkiye proposes that the parties to the Ukrainian conflict enter into a limited agreement on not striking energy facilities and ensuring the safety of navigation in the Black Sea until they can agree to sign a comprehensive peace agreement. TASS reports this with reference to the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic, Hakan Fidan.
“In the absence of a comprehensive ceasefire and peace agreement, it is proposed to conclude a limited agreement on not striking energy facilities and ensuring the safety of navigation in the Black Sea,” he said.
Fidan recalled that agreements on a grain deal were concluded on a similar principle in 2022. “Thus, not only vessels involved in the transportation of grain, but also all commercial vessels avoided blockage in navigation,” he noted.
The grain deal, signed in Istanbul on July 22, 2022, expired on July 17, 2023.
