In the first 5.5 months of the 2025/26 season, Russia supplied 8 million tons of wheat to the Middle East, which corresponds to the same period last year (+0.4%), reports the federal center Agroexport.
The key sales destination here is traditionally Türkiye, which has already purchased 3.3 million tons of crops (+76% compared to the same period last year). Over the entire last season, the country imported only 3.4 million tons from Russia, with a five-year average of 7.6 million tons.
Israel demonstrates a significant increase in the volume of purchases – 1.1 million tons (+26%).
“An important event of the current season was the actual opening of the Iraqi market for Russian wheat. Despite the availability of access, in recent seasons there have been no significant and regular supplies in this direction,” Agroexport analysts note.
However, over 5.5 months of the 2025/26 season, record volumes of 0.3 million tons were delivered to Iraq. At the same time, according to USDA estimates, Iraq's import potential varies on average in the range of 2.6–4 million tons per season, which indicates an additional niche for the sale of Russian wheat.
