Russia will retain its leading position in the global agricultural market and will remain the largest exporter of wheat in the 2025–2026 agricultural year, according to forecasts from the Russian Academy of Sciences, which RIA Novosti reviewed. Earlier, in May last year, the head of the Ministry of Agriculture Oksana Lut reported that Russia expects to maintain first place in wheat exports and export more than 54 million tons per year, exceeding the previous record.
In the 2023–2024 agricultural season, Russia supplied 72 million tons of grain to foreign markets, including 54 million tons of wheat, which was a historical maximum. According to the forecast of the Russian Academy of Sciences, in 2025–2026, in terms of physical volumes, Russia will maintain or strengthen its position in a number of basic products: wheat - 1st place, rye - 3rd, barley - 4th, corn - 6th, sunflower and sunflower oil - 2nd, pork - 7th, poultry meat - 9th, cheese - 8th, butter - 11th.
