Wheat supplies from the Russian Federation to Indonesia have recently decreased; this will be the subject of discussion during the visit of the country's President Prabowo Subianto to Moscow, Interfax reports.
“We have, in my opinion, slightly reduced the supply of wheat to your market. This is also the subject of our discussion today,” Russian President Vladimir Putin said during a meeting with his Indonesian counterpart.
Putin also said that the Russian Federation and Indonesia may have many interesting projects in agriculture. “We even have a certain surplus in favor of Indonesia in our relations in the field of agriculture. But we are not complaining, we are ready to look for ways to further develop relations in this sector,” he said
As Rosselkhoznadzor previously reported, Indonesia resumed wheat purchases after a break in October this year. This became possible after the extension of accreditation of testing laboratories subordinate to Rosselkhoznadzor.
In accordance with the regulatory documents in force in Indonesia, research on products of plant origin, including grain, when supplied to the country, can only be carried out by duly registered Russian laboratories, whose competence is recognized by the Indonesian side.
According to Rosselkhoznadzor, Indonesia annually imports up to 11 million tons of wheat, 2.7 million tons of soybeans and 1.2 million tons of corn.
At the All-Russian Grain Forum in May of this year, the deputy chairman of the Indonesian Wheat Flour Producers Association, Budianto Widjaja, reported that Russian wheat supplies to the country at the end of 2024 exceeded 1.35 million tons, which was the best figure in the last 10 years.
