The Russian Federation can export 2.8-3 million tons of wheat in January compared to 2.5 million tons in January 2025, reports the Rusagrotrans analytical center (part of Demetra-Holding).
As reported by the center, from July to December 2025, wheat exports amounted to 26.7 million tons against the 2024 record of 29.7 million tons. Egypt took first place in purchases, as in the previous year. But their import of wheat from the Russian Federation decreased to 5.1 million tons from 5.5 million tons in July-December 2024. Türkiye, which became the second importer, increased purchases by 2.2 times, to almost 4.4 million tons. Analysts explained this growth by a significant reduction in the country’s 2025 harvest due to spring frosts.
Iran rose from eighth to third place, increasing imports by 2.9 times, to 1.7 million tons, this also happened against the backdrop of a falling harvest. In fourth place is Bangladesh, where 1.45 million tons were sent versus 2.23 million tons a year earlier. Analysts attributed this decline to increased competition from Argentina, Brazil and Australia. Israel ranks fifth with 1.1 million tons. Analysts also reported that Sudan is among the major importers. Supplies to its market increased 2.2 times, to almost 1 million tons.
Prices for Russian wheat with protein 12.5% for delivery in January-February amounted to $225-227/t FOB (no changes by the end of December). The price for French wheat increased to $232/t (+$4/t), German – to $240/t (+$6/t), Romanian – to $233/t (+$1/t), Australian – to $238/t (+$2/t). American wheat fell in price to $227/t (-$3/t), Ukrainian 11.5% - to $226/t (-$1/t).
Prices for wheat (4 cl, 12.5% protein) in deep-water ports for delivery by road remained at the same level of 15,200-15,300 rubles/t without VAT, for delivery by rail - 16,000 rubles/t, at low water prices -14,500 rubles/t.
