Rostselmash predicts a reduction in the working week in 2026 to three to four days due to a drop in market demand, TASS reports citing company co-owner Konstantin Babkin.
In 2025, Rostselmash postponed the annual vacation of the team due to a sharp deterioration in the market situation; this was a necessary measure due to the lack of demand for equipment from farmers; the production program was also reduced. According to the government of the Rostov region, 2 thousand jobs were cut at the machine-building plant.
“There is still such very cautious optimism for next year. But next year there will be periods when we will work three or four days a week. I hope that there will be no long-term vacations,” said the agency’s interlocutor.
Previously, Babkin stated that at the end of 2025, sales at the plant decreased by 25% due to the difficult situation in the agricultural machinery market. At the same time, the plant postponed the deadline for paying the recycling fee to the end of the year, which made it possible to preserve working capital against the backdrop of rising loan costs and allocate about 25 billion rubles to production, jobs and components. According to Babkin, the company does not plan to send employees on regular vacations until the end of the year.
