The large Rostov grain trader "Pallada" filed a claim in the Moscow Arbitration Court for 10.7 billion rubles against the General Corporation for Trade, Storage and Processing of Grain of the Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection of Syria, reports the portal "City N".
The court has not yet accepted the claim.
Created in 2022, Pallada previously filed a lawsuit against the Central Bank of Syria and the Syrian State Grain Corporation in the amount of 5.6 billion rubles ($71.3 million) and even tried to seize the accounts of the Syrian Central Bank. The court refused to seize the accounts. However, the case is ongoing.
The claim is related to failure to fulfill obligations under contracts for the supply of grain. Problems arose after the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime in December 2024. As a result of political instability and changes in government, regular supplies of Russian grain were stopped, and negotiations with the new government became more complicated.
At the end of last year, Pallada’s turnover, according to SPARK-Interfax, has already exceeded 36.2 billion rubles, and net profit amounted to more than 4.4 billion rubles.
