The New Overland Grain Corridor (NSGC), which includes the Trans-Baikal Grain Terminal (ZZT), is exploring options for supplying Russian grain to the BRICS countries and Southeast Asia (SEA) through China.
“The management of the NSGC is exploring the option of supplying agricultural products to the port of Dalian, from where the grain can be sent by sea to the BRICS countries and Southeast Asia. This route is now more relevant than ever,” the group said in a press release.
In particular, the management of the NSZK appealed to representatives of China with a request to assist in the supply of hopper cars from the PRC and their admission to the terminal territory for loading. Coordination of these issues by the state corporation "Chinese Railways" will ensure the most attractive grain prices for buyers from China and other countries.
According to the press release, the technical specifications of the PRT were presented at a meeting of the BRICS Business Council's working group on agribusiness last week in India. Located in Transbaikalia, just 4 kilometers from the border with China and equipped with both wide (1520 mm) and narrow (1435 mm) gauge railways, the ZZT can provide transshipment of up to 8 million tons of grain per year.
GC "NSZK" introduced a grain terminal in Transbaikalia in 2022. The terminal is a specialized grain railway complex located at the largest Russian-Chinese border crossing in the village of Zabaikalsk. The volume of simultaneous grain storage is up to 80 thousand tons.
ZZT is a resident of the ASEZ and the first stage of the transport and logistics cluster in Zabaikalsk. In the second stage, NSZK plans to build a multimodal transport and logistics center with a capacity of up to 300 thousand twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU) per year.
The New Overland Grain Corridor Group of Companies is a diversified agro-industrial holding that is implementing a project in the Urals, Siberia and the Far East to create and develop infrastructure for the export of grains, legumes and oilseeds to China, the countries of Central Asia and the Middle East, as well as to increase grain production in these regions.
