The Latvian government intends to set a duty of 300% on the transit of grain from Russia and Belarus. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the LETA agency and the Prime Minister of Latvia Andris Kulbergs.
“The government plans to introduce a 300% duty on Russian and Belarusian grain cargo and their processing,” the material says.
According to the prime minister, he previously discussed this issue with his Estonian counterpart and intends to hold negotiations with the head of the Lithuanian government.
After the cabinet meeting, Kulbergs said that the initiative is supported by all political forces represented in the Latvian parliament.
According to the Prime Minister, the proposed restrictions should prevent the export of Russian grain from new regions.
