Following the results of the 2026 harvest campaign, the Krasnodar Territory expects to harvest 13.4 million tons of grains and leguminous crops, regional governor Veniamin Kondratyev said at a meeting with the head of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation Oksana Lut.
“According to forecasts, the total harvest of grains and legumes will be about 13.4 million tons, oilseeds - at least 1.5 million tons. This is more than in 2025,” Kondratiev quotes Interfax.
He reported that this year farmers harvested more than 9.5 million tons of wheat. Currently, harvesting of rice, corn, sunflowers, soybeans and beets continues.
As reported, last year, due to the summer drought and lack of moisture in the soil, 11.5 million tons of grains and legumes were harvested in the region (17% less than a year earlier). Thus, growth this year could be almost 17%.
At the same time, according to the governor, now the main challenge for farmers is the sale of commercial grain in conditions of limited operation of the ports of the Azov-Black Sea basin.
Oksana Lut noted that in order to reorient cargo flows, the Government has allocated 9.7 billion rubles to subsidize preferential rail transportation of agricultural products. Measures such as the extension of preferential short-term loans and preferential leasing for crop-growing enterprises, per-hectare subsidies for winter sowing and a number of other solutions are being developed. Preparations are underway for government grain procurement interventions in the amount of up to 3 million tons.
“It is important for us to preserve enterprises that are forced to sell grain below cost. First of all, these are small farms. For our part, we will provide agricultural enterprises with a holiday on loans from the regional Microfinance Fund and a deferment on the payment of rent for regional and municipal land. We plan to allocate an additional 5 billion rubles from the regional budget to purchase grain from farmers and small enterprises,” Kondratyev said.
The head of the region explained that this money will be able to reach farmers only in November, but already at the end of September, farms should begin autumn sowing. It is planned to allocate about 1.8 million hectares for winter crops, including 1.6 million hectares for winter wheat.
