The drought, due to which a state of emergency was declared in the Omsk region, destroyed about 10 thousand hectares of crops, reported TASS Minister of Agriculture, Food and Processing Industry of the region Nikolai Drofa. In total, 1.5 million hectares of crop area fell under unfavorable agrometeorological conditions.
“The actual area of agricultural crops that died as a result of the drought is 10 thousand hectares. In general, a territory with a total area of 1.5 million hectares is included in the zone affected by unfavorable agrometeorological conditions, while damage to crops was recorded in individual areas,” Bustard said.
He noted that in such areas the yield decreased by 3-5 centners per hectare. This is a decrease of approximately 15-25% of the average grain yield in the Omsk region. In total, about 2.65 million hectares were sown in the region.
The Omsk region harvests about 3 million tons of grains and legumes. In 2024, a record harvest for the last 15 years was harvested - almost 4 million tons of grain.
