Wheat exports from the Russian Federation to China in November increased 1.6 times compared to October, to $4.6 million from $2.9 million, Interfax reports citing materials from the State Customs Administration (SCU) of the People's Republic of China.
Compared to November 2024 ($2.3 million), deliveries have doubled.
However, in annual terms, shipments decreased significantly, which was a consequence of the “drawdown” of exports in the middle of the year. Exports for 11 months fell to $11.3 million from $86.5 million a year earlier.
This year, China is importing wheat from 8 countries. Most of it was supplied from Canada - $685.2 million.
As reported, in 2024, China imported $87.25 million worth of Russian wheat, which is 2.5 times more than in 2023 ($34.71 million).
The largest suppliers of wheat to China in 2024 were Australia ($1.079 billion), Canada ($873.775 million), France ($707.516 million), USA ($599.54 million), Kazakhstan ($133.66 million). Last year, China imported wheat from 8 countries. The Russian Federation’s indicator was sixth.
In November, supplies of Russian barley to China also increased - up to $20.2 million from $13.4 million in October. Compared to November 2024 ($11.8 million), they almost doubled.
At the same time, over 11 months, barley exports from the Russian Federation to China fell to $96.4 million from $167.8 million a year earlier.
Major barley suppliers to China over the 11-month period included Australia and Canada.
In 2024, the Russian Federation supplied $177.1 million worth of barley to China, compared to $110.3 million in 2023.
Currently, the Russian Federation can only supply spring wheat and barley to China. However, according to Russian experts, winter wheat and barley have the greatest export potential. The Russian Federation is seeking permission to supply this grain to the Chinese market.
