Loading on the network JSC Russian Railways in August 2026 amounted to 93 million tons, which is 0.9% more than in the same period last year, the company’s press service reports.
Freight turnover in August 2026 increased by 2.4% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 207.5 billion tariff ton-km; freight turnover, taking into account the mileage of empty cars during the same time, increased by 0.5% and amounted to 253.2 billion ton-km.
Loading for January – August 2026, according to operational data, amounted to 734.1 million tons, which is 0.6% less than the same period last year.
In particular, the following were shipped by railways:
- chemical and mineral fertilizers – 46.2 million tons (-1.5%);
- grain – 20.9 million tons (+48.7%).
Loading of other cargo, including the above items shipped in containers, amounted to 76.3 million tons (+3.8%).
Loading on the Russian Railways network has been growing for the fifth month in a row: in April – by 1.9%, in May – by 0.5%, in June – by 1%, in July – by 0.1%, in August – by 0.9%.
At the same time, cargo turnover increased at a higher rate - by 4.1% in April and May, by 4.5% in June, by 6.5% in July, by 2.4% in August, which indicates an increase in the transportation range due to the reorientation of cargo flows.
Export transportation of goods in the eastern direction in August increased by +4.5%, to 14.5 million tons, including fertilizers (+5.9%), grain (4.5 times).
The key drivers of growth in loading in August were coal (+5.2% compared to August 2025) and grain (+26.8%).
