—From December 1 to December 10, the Russian Federation reduced wheat export shipments by almost 22% - Russian Grain Union
      11.12.2025

From December 1 to December 10, the Russian Federation shipped 1.38 million tons of wheat for export, which is 21.6% less than in the same period last year, Interfax reports with reference to the monitoring of the Russian Grain Union.

“After an increase in shipments in November, December began with a fall. And not only for wheat. Half as much corn was shipped - 62 thousand tons versus 127.9 thousand tons a year ago, barley - 17.5 thousand tons versus 76.6 thousand tons, respectively,” said Elena Tyurina, director of the union’s analytical department.

As a result, shipments of the main types of grain decreased by 25.7%, to 1.46 million tons.

According to her, in the first ten days of December, 7 types of grains, legumes and oilseeds were exported. A year ago there were 19 of them. The number of purchasing countries has also decreased. “Now there are 14 of them compared to 32 in the first ten days of December last year. But it should be noted that there is an increase in shipments to countries that are the main buyers of Russian wheat,” Tyurina said. Thus, 278.4 thousand tons of wheat were sent to Egypt, which is 8.2% more than a year earlier. Türkiye, after lifting the ban on wheat imports, almost doubled its purchases, to 246 thousand tons from 125 thousand tons a year ago. 135.7 thousand tons were exported to Iran. A year ago there were no shipments to this country.

The UAE increased purchases to 66.5 thousand tons from about 6 thousand tons. “Iraq closes the top five, where 54 thousand tons were shipped. This is also a new point on the export map in December,” Tyurina said. In addition, over the past decade, exports to Tanzania increased 2.6 times, to 54 thousand tons. 35.8 thousand tons were shipped to Brazil. “Algeria and Morocco have resumed purchases, where 30.5 thousand tons and 27 thousand tons were sent, respectively,” the expert noted.

According to her data, the geography of corn and barley exports has significantly narrowed. 38 thousand tons were sent to Iran, which is 62.5% less than a year ago. Türkiye increased purchases almost 1.6 times, to 24 thousand tons. She purchased 5 times more barley - 14.5 thousand tons.

The number of exporting companies fell to 17 from 54 a year ago.

According to the monitoring, crop products during this period were shipped through 15 ports compared to 27 in the first ten days of December 2024. “Moreover, transshipment through all major ports is decreasing. Thus, shipments through Novorossiysk decreased by 21%, to 660 thousand tons, road transshipment fell 2.5 times, to 196 thousand tons, through Rostov-on-Don - by 6.4%, to 139.7 thousand tons,” said Tyurina. “At the same time, shipments through Azov increased by 47%, up to 117 thousand tons, 1.5 times through Tuapse - 76.5 thousand tons."

Speaking about the price situation on the market, Tyurina reported that over the decade, French wheat rose in price by 0.9%, to $229 per ton, prices for American wheat stabilized at $240 per ton, for Russian (FOB Novorossiysk) increased by 0.2%, to $228 per ton. “For the first time in a long period, the price of Russian wheat has a discount of $1 compared to the supply price of wheat in Europe. This is a positive signal for the growth of shipment volumes in December. I think that by the end of the month it will be possible to see an increase in exports,” she said.

Prices on the domestic market decreased by within 1%. But in dollar terms they increased by 0.8%, to $169.9 per ton.

Tyurina also reported that in November the Russian Federation exported 5.6 million tons of wheat compared to 5.18 million tons in November 2024.
