China imported $13.8 million worth of wheat from Russia in 2025, which is 6.3 times less than in 2024 ($87.3 million), Interfax reports, citing materials from the State Customs Administration (GTU) of the People's Republic of China.
In December 2025, purchases decreased to $2.5 million from $4.6 million in November, but in annual terms they increased by 3.2 times ($786.2 thousand in December 2024).

In 2025, Russia reduced supplies of barley to China to $111.2 million from $177.1 million in 2024. In December, export revenue amounted to $14.8 million compared to $20.2 million in November. But compared to December 2024 ($9.3 million), it increased almost 1.6 times.
Major barley suppliers to China in 2025 included Australia ($1.5 billion), Canada ($430.9 million) and Argentina ($161.1 million).
Russia can now supply only spring wheat and barley to China. According to Russian experts, winter wheat and barley have the greatest export potential. Russia is seeking permission to supply this grain to the Chinese market.
At the same time, Russian corn exports to China are growing. In 2025, it tripled to $107.6 million from $34.2 million in 2024. In December, $26.5 million worth of this grain was supplied to the Chinese market compared to $7.4 million a year earlier.
Russia's annual figure was second only to Brazil, whose export revenue from corn supplies to China amounted to $411.2 million.
