A significant drop in temperature is predicted in the regions of the Northwestern and Central Federal Districts in the second half of the week, Interfax reports, citing Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia.
“In the second half of the week there will be a significant drop in temperature in the Northwestern Federal District and the Central Federal District. This is due to the fact that an area of high pressure is forming over Scandinavia, over the Barents Sea, and starting on Thursday the circulation will change,” Vilfand said.
He noted that Thursday is still expected to be a transition day. So, for example, in Moscow the temperature at night is expected to be about minus 9 - minus 14, and during the day from minus 6 to minus 11, but already on Friday night it is predicted to be minus 15 - minus 20, and in the daytime about minus 15, which is 8 degrees below normal. On Saturday the temperature will be 10 degrees below normal - about minus 20 at night and minus 15 during the day.
A decrease in temperature is also predicted in the north of the Urals. At the same time, temperatures in the south of the Urals are expected to rise by the end of the week.
He clarified that in the next two days “very cold weather” will continue in the regions of the southern Urals; in the Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk, Kurgan regions and in the south of the Tyumen region the temperature will be 7-10 degrees below normal with frosts down to minus 35 - minus 37 degrees. “But starting from Thursday, air masses will move from the southwest. And by the end of the week, on Friday-Saturday, the temperature will rise significantly and will be 8-10 degrees above normal. That is, such a sharp increase in temperature - by 10-15 degrees during this week,” Vilfand said.
