The grain harvest in Russia in net weight in 2025 may exceed the previous forecast of 137 million tons, says Minister of Agriculture Oksana Lut.
“We have already collected about 148 million tons, or rather 147.8 million tons were in the bunker yesterday. Well, and, accordingly, 137 million tons, maybe a little more - depending on what the reaction will be - we confirm the forecast for a clean harvest,” Interfax reports her words.
As Lut stated, in the current situation, the issue of refining <cleaning and drying grain> is key, because the harvesting conditions were difficult. “There was a lot of moisture,” she explained.
“But in general, 137 million tons [in net weight] for sure - and then we’ll see,” she said.
Earlier, the head of the Ministry of Agriculture explained that we are talking about harvesting, taking into account new regions.
The minister also said that Siberia achieved another record for grain harvest this year. Moreover, she emphasized, this was done through the use of advanced technologies, which make it possible to obtain higher yields.
“The area under the classic grain crop - under wheat - is decreasing. But at the same time, due to the yield and due to the technologies that are now used in Siberia, we have another grain record in this region. This is very cool - precisely due to technology, due to the work of agricultural producers,” said Lut.
The country's wheat harvest forecast in 2025 is 90 million tons.
In 2024, Russia harvested 125.9 million tons of grain, including 82.6 million tons of wheat.
